Farewells

If you detected a somewhat elegiac tone creeping into some of the more recent posts on this blog, you would not be far wrong.  Today marked the final day of work at the University of Washington Libraries for Nicole Bouché. Nicole, who has been the Pacific Northwest Curator for the past four years, is taking on the position of Director of the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library at the University of Virginia.  We will all miss the professionalism, energy, and true collegiality she brought to the Special Collections Division.

Also leaving Special Collections, are newly-minted librarians, Blynne Olivieri and Edna Bastien-Wennerlind. Blynne, who has been a valued contributor to the Division since 2006, is currently enjoying some well-deserved downtime with her family after finishing up her M.L.I.S. degree during the summer quarter. Edna, who completed her degree in June, continued to put in many hours over the summer to complete her portion of the much-needed maps relocation project initiated by Nicole. If you happen to find yourself in Federal Way, drop in for a story time or a ukulele serenade at the King County Library System branch, where Edna has begun working as a children’s librarian.

Sad as we are to see them go, we wish them all the very best, fully confident that they will go on to great things and continue to stay in touch.
